eBooks & Audiobooks

Like adult readers, some students prefer texts in digital format while others prefer print. Noblesville Schools is proud to offer an abundance of texts in both formats in support of the district’s mission to create lifelong readers and learners. eBooks and audiobooks have accessibility features that can improve the reading experience for many PreK-12 readers. These features may include the ability to

  • Enable read aloud
  • Speed up or slow down a narrator
  • Adjust text size and background color
  • Mark up pages with digital annotation tools

Most importantly, however, these digital collections promote reading momentum by providing access to books during evenings, weekends, and breaks. It is a goal of Noblesville Schools to develop voluminous joyful readers. Research points to independent reading as the single factor most strongly associated with reading achievement (Krashen, 2004).

MyON

MyON is a large collection of high-interest digital books to supplement our PreK-5 classroom and school libraries. No app is required, and students can access MyON through Clever under the section labeled Reading. Students without home internet can download books for offline reading.

Sora

Sora allows students to browse juvenile and young adult digital materials within the Hamilton East Public Library Overdrive collection of eBooks and audiobooks. Students log into Sora using their Google email address and password and can find a shortcut for access on Clever under the section labeled Reading.

Mackin Hoosier Shared Digital Collection

The Hoosier Shared Digital Collection is a state-wide shared digital collection of PreK-12 eBooks and audiobooks. Select library media centers have purchased access.
