Welcome to Stony Creek Elementary School

Welcome to Stony Creek where our motto is: Learning every day, growing every way, Stony Creek! We are excited about having our Stony Creek family back in the building on August 11th.

We encourage family members to come visit often. We have volunteer opportunities that range from once a year to once a week, and we will tailor them to meet your comfort level. Our PTO meetings are every other month, and there are so many ways you can support their efforts for our students and staff. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of our volunteers for the success of our students. We truly believe that we are partners with our families in educating our students.

We encourage and expect open communication with our staff and families to provide the success we all desire. Please be sure to ask questions when you have them. If you attempt communication with a staff member and you do not hear back from this person by the end of the next school day, please contact me directly to help you out. We will only have one official Parent-Teacher conference time this year, so please come in during the October 25th or 26th openings that will be scheduled with your child’s teacher. This 15 minute meeting at the end of the first nine-weeks is very valuable, as we can all make adjustments if needed, and complete the year that much stronger for your child.

Stony Creek Elementary will continue to focus on: reading comprehension through guided reading in small groups with all students; math problem solving through the practice of multi-step problems and a series of strategies to recognize important information within the problem; and our writing application skills by writing in detail a response to the prompt provided. Our school improvement plan will be posted on this website in September. I encourage you to look in more detail at what we are focusing on at Stony Creek. If you have questions, or you wish to be a part of our school improvement team, please contact me.

2010-2011 looks to be a great year at Stony Creek, we look forward to making it great with you!

State law requires up-to-date immunization records be on file at school

Superintendent Dr. Libbie Conner has granted a 20-day waiver that gives parents until September 10 to provide updated records of their children's immunizations. The State of Indiana expanded its list of immunizations required for students in grades 6-12 this year.
